Location
Nearly 25 years ago, the Provincial Government - then under NDP power - knew enough that Tower Road was (already) too close to the City of Regina to provide a truly effective Bypass around Regina, and therefore suggested that Gravel Pit Road would be the preferred East terminal for any future Regina Bypass. Since that time, as we are all well aware, there has been signficant development in East Regina, most recently being developed immediately adjacent to Tower Road.
Insufficient weight has been given to valid concerns raised in regards to the location of the east Regina / Highway #1 Bypass that will impact taxpayers and everyone using the #1 Highway.
The Gravel Pit Road location will be a longer-term solution, allowing 25-50 years of City growth. Even better, a North Alternative Route would be far more efficient and cost effective than any Southern Bypass Route.
